Phenolic
Thick Phenolic Core Laminate is manufactured in a flat press by combining decorative papers saturated in melamine resin with phenolic-impregnated kraft layers at pressures exceeding 1000 psi (6895 kPa) and temperatures approaching 300° F (150° C). The thickness of the laminate is determined by the number of kraft layers used. The laminating process combines the durability of melamine resins with the aesthetics of decorative papers creating a surfacing material that has been the standard for well over forty years.
Thick Phenolic Core Laminate provides a durable surface that is easy to maintain using ordinary care. Available in a variety of colours with a polished bullnose edge detail. ¼” thick phenolic is the ideal material for constructing keyboard platforms due to its inherent physical properties which include light weight, high strength and durable finish. It also cuts very well and the bullnose edge all around leaves an attractive, safe appearance that is very user friendly.
Palm Rest
We offer two standard palm rest options on most platforms:
Slow recovery foam (S) – this material offers all the great energy absorbing and desirable user feel benefits of gel without the strong odour that is often associated with gel. Made of polyurethane foam and featuring a unique “snakeskin” pattern it will continue looking attractive even under heavy use.
Upholstered (U) – featuring the same durable High Resiliency foam we use in our world class Built2Last Seating line and a wonderful and breathable leather-like upholstery material. These rests offer unparalleled durability and comfort. The surface is soft and warm to the touch and offers great weight distribution properties.
Custom Capabilities
Like many other aspects of your keyboarding system, EA is capable of providing custom touches that can add greatly to the ergonomics, comfort and appearance of your final product. Some examples of these include: energy absorbing foam combined with our breathable upholstery material, custom colours, corporate logos, and custom sizes. Our customized palm rest program can add great ergonomic value and user comfort by providing a palm rest that matches the front profile of your chosen keyboard or input device perfectly. In addition to these benefits it also makes for a more complete and professional appearance from an aesthetic standpoint. To include a customized palm rest with your chosen platform simply follow these steps:
1. Add the suffix C in place of U or S and add the appropriate list price upcharge
2. Many popular keyboard models have already been included in the program but if yours is not: we will require a simple drawing or cardboard cut-out template showing the front contour along with measurements from the front of the 1 and 9 keys to the keyboard front edge.
3. Allow 3 weeks from drawing acceptance for delivery
